File compare utility
Powerful text & binary file
compare
AJC Visual Diff lets you compare
two files in a very powerful, yet simple way
(see
screenshots below).
The AJC Visual Diff Tool is
included FREE with AJC Directory Synchronizer and can compare files in text or binary mode.
When using the AJC
Directory Synchronizer file synchronization
tool to determine which files in a directory
have been
changed, before transferring them it is
often useful to review what the differences
actually
are between any two files. This is when
AJC Visual Diff is used.
AJC Diff can be purchased seperately
if a stand-alone file comparison utility is
required (when used in conjunction with
AJC Directory Synchronizer it is FREE but can only
compare files selected by AJC Directory
Synchronizer).
- Files can be shown combined
or
side
by
side.
- You can view the full diff, context diff
or differences only.
- Differences are colour
coded and colors
can be set in the options.
- You can choose
to show line numbers.
- Text search and print
options
are included.
- It is ideal for comparing
documents written in Microsoft Word.
Look at the list of file compare features below
and then take a tour to see a full set of
screen shots. You can also download
a free 30-day trial (2.1Mb Virus Checked
ZIP format) and test it out for yourself.
AJC
Visual Diff is a piece of software I use every day
in conjunction with AJC Directory Synchronizer.

As a product documenter
I regularly use the AJC Diff Tool
to compare program source code, documents and
web page differences. It is FREE with AJC Directory
Synchronizer, and only $15 when purchased
stand-alone,
which to my mind is very reasonable, and though
it may not be as advanced as some Diff programs
available, it is a no-nonsense, easy to use program
that gives most people the features they require.
Take a look at some of the main features
of the program:-

File Comparison is
really easy!
Select the two files to be compared (Note: When
AJC Diff is used in conjunction with AJC Directory
Synchronizer the two files for compare are automatically
selected for you, so you would not see this screen).

The
files can be opened for comparison in the following
modes:
- Auto will detect if either file is binary
and advise what to do.
- Text will do a text
file comparison.
- Binary will do a binary
file comparison. Initially you will be
told the first byte that differs
and you will then have the option to do a
full byte compare.
Once you have compared files, AJC Diff keeps
a history so you can easily compare the same
files again later.
 |
By default the two files are shown
side by side with color highlighting.
Red for lines only in the left file,
green for lines in the right and yellow
for lines that have been changed. The
view can easily be switched to a combined
file
view.
You
can choose to show the whole files, just
differences in context or differences
only.
Switching between proportional and
fixed fonts at the click of a button
helps
when viewing text documents or program
listings.
Its easy to jump between each difference
and find text using the Next/Previous buttons.

 |
When doing a binary diff you will
initially be told the first byte that
differs and then you will have the
option to do a full byte compare.
The byte compare is laid out like
a hex dump. You can change the number
base and no of byte columns.
